How often do you actually get outside during the week? If you work a normal 9-5 desk job, the answer is probably not enough! We completely understand how hard it can be to find the time to get outside, especially how to find the motivation to do so, in the chilly winter months. But you really do need to trust us when we say it's totally worth it. If you are feeling a bit down in the dumps, unmotivated, lacking energy, why not try and incorporate more time outdoors and see if you start to notice a difference.
It's incredible to think something so simple as setting more time to go outside can affect your mood & energy so significantly. By outside, we don't mean suddenly pack up your things and go on a getaway in the wildlife in the middle of nowhere (However if you can permit time out to do this, go ahead!) but simply walking out of the office, can reset your mind, and energize you to keep going the rest of the time, by clearing your mind and taking in that sense of fresh air.
Now, it’s one thing for me to sit here and say how important getting outside is, but it’s another to figure out how that actually works in your day-to-day life. So, if you’re feeling like the above is starting to sound like you and you need a little boost of energy, here are a few ways to bring nature back into your life:
DON'T IGNORE IT:
We understand it's cold, and staying inside the office with your pack lunch sounds like a lot better idea, but even if you don't believe it works, you need to make getting outside more a priority, the same as what you would do with a business meeting, once it becomes the normal for you, it's much easier to incorporate it into your daily routine
TAKE YOUR MEETINGS & LUNCH BREAK OUTSIDE :
No need to make excuses to get out of the office, simply go outside, without any intention of going anywhere. It will leave you feeling great and energize for the rest of the day. You don't need to just focus this on your lunch breaks, if you have a meeting with one of your colleagues in the office, and don't need to be tied behind the desk in the meeting, go for a walk together instead.
TRY A MORNING WALK, OR A WALK TO THE OFFICE:
It happens to us all of us, we read all these amazing articles about how good waking up early is, but for the majority of us mornings are an absolute struggle. A great way to combat this is to turn it into a routine, put your trainers on grab some water and before you have time to do anything else, or want to crawl back under the blankets head out the door for a walk around the block. If you are lucky enough to live near enough to the office for you to walk, why not try incorporating this a couple of days a week into your schedule.
